The Arroyo Seco Parkway will be closed to cars on Sunday due to the LA Rarity – Walking

Don’t plan to drive on the Arroyo Seco Parkway this Sunday.

The portion of the 110 Freeway that runs through South Pasadena and Northeast Los Angeles is used by pedestrians and bicyclists instead of cars. The unusual event is part of the celebration known as 626 Golden Streets ArroyoFest.

As part of the free celebration, a 7-mile route will be closed from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event is organized by Active San Gabriel Valley and presented by Metro. The focus is on giving people the opportunity to explore the Lincoln Heights, Cypress Park, Highland Park, Hermon, South Pasadena and Pasadena neighborhoods on foot.

The chosen route runs almost parallel to subway A, so visitors can travel by public transport and get to the party from light rail stations. According to the organizers, children under 4 can ride Metro, Metrolink and Foothill Transit for free. at 7 a.m., starting in South Pasadena.

There will be live entertainment, concession stands and restrooms along the route.
