If you’re tired of hitting watermelons at every grocery store, we’re ready to make your job easier!

Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology has developed a mobile application that determines the freshness of fruits and vegetables. All this happens with the help of a WiFi signal that will pass through the products and inform the receiver about its status (yes, you hadn’t imagined).
“Maturity has physical and chemical criteria. In particular, the sugar content of fruits increases with ripening. This changes the dielectric properties of their internal environment. “They affect the level of the Wi-Fi signal passing through the product,” said MIPT researcher Dmitry Filonov.
The app is currently only available for Android and its name has yet to be revealed. And we are looking forward to this miracle device!
