UPDATED 18:23: The more than 51,000 members of the Actors’ Equity Association today approved the touring agreement reached two weeks ago with the Broadway League. The new agreement runs until September 7, 2026.
Actors’ Equity said the pact includes advances on equity, diversity and inclusion; paid sick leave; and safeguards for those in need of reproductive and gender-affirming care.
“Creating a new, unified touring agreement has been a long-term goal and a mammoth undertaking,” said Kate Shindle, president of the Actors’ Equity Association. “The new contract includes advances in equality, diversity and inclusion, paid sick leave for everyone working in the equity business, and protections for those who need reproductive and gender-affirming care. Touring is hard and life on the road presents unique challenges. We will remain focused on improving the quality of life for the actors and stage managers who are committed to bringing world-class theater to communities across the country.”
Charlotte St. Martin, President of the Broadway League, said, “This new agreement provides our tour producers with much-needed flexibility and cost savings in key areas, while addressing important union concerns.”
EARLY April 13: The Actors’ Equity Association and The Broadway League have reached a tentative agreement on a new touring agreement, the organizations announced today.
The new three-year contract, which replaces previous production contract tours and short engagement tours, is still subject to ratification by Equity members.
The two parties – Equity representing theater actors and stage managers, and League the trade association for theater owners and producers – began negotiating a new touring deal in January. The union recently authorized a strike pending a settlement over wage increases and daily allowances.
Details of the agreement were not disclosed.
