In recent weeks, a TikTok trend that went viral has encouraged viewers to max out their showers, at least once a week to get “really clean.” This ritual, called “everything shower” or “everything shower” in English, it could involve the use of many products and had to be practiced from head to toe to ensure perfect hygiene. Scalp exfoliation, double hair wash, mask, exfoliation, shave, double facial cleansing, etc… This very exhaustive process is not really what you can call ecological.
And since everything and its opposite can be found on TikTok, another trend has just appeared, which advocates the exact opposite of the “shower of everything”. His name? The “rain of nothing”…

The “shower of nothingness”: a questionable ritual
The rain of nothing is a very simple concept. It consists of being in the shower, standing or lying down, and leaving the color of the water on your body, without using soap or shampoo. Content creator Alexandra R. Simpson explains the ritual she made famous in a nutshell: “Turn on the water faucet, sit in the tub and don’t wash anything. »
Ok but for what purpose? According to the main interested party (having however obtained more than 110 thousand likes on her video) this gesture would be “excellent for managing migraines {…} Will I be clean after? NO. Will I take a real shower afterwards? Probably not, since I will have used up all the hot water. »
A bubble concept of wellness and relaxation, which seems to have already conquered many people who have commented on the video. Let’s read for example “Sometimes I do nothing, all the lights are off, and I act like I’m in a sensory isolation pod. ».
What if we shower normally?
The problem with the nothing shower is that beyond its ability to transport us to an environment where relaxation is king, it does not allow us to be pure. If the shower is a very exhaustive ritual and not always necessary, using a neutral pH soap or a classic shower gel on the body is essential to eliminate bacteria and avoid bad smells.
Obviously, on the ecological side, the two rituals are to be avoided as they generate an all too important and often useless loss of water. Anyway, what if we shower normally?
