The Motion Picture Association is expanding its team in Latin America with the addition of new communications and advocacy leaders.
Cesar Castillejos will become vice president of communications, public affairs and advocacy for the region and Carlos Monroy will become advocacy director for Mexico.
The appointments reflect growth in the Latin American home, mobile and theater markets.
You will report to Carla Sanchez Armas, General Manager for Latin America at MPA and join the team led by Gail MacKinnon, Senior Executive Vice President, Global Policy and Government Affairs.
Castillejos has held senior positions in the Mexican government, including serving as communications advisor to President Enrique Peña Nieto. Most recently, he led communications for the federal judiciary and the Supreme Court.
Monroy worked in the Mexican Congress and in the Federal Civil Service. He was a senior advisor to Tatiana Clouthier, former Minister of Economy, until 2022. Together with the Secretary of State for Industry and Trade, he oversaw Mexico’s industrial policy and was also responsible for the design and implementation of the ministry’s policy to support the creative industries.
Castillejos said in a statement, “Latin America is a region of increasing importance to the MPA and our member studios, and we will continue to work to support the growth and development of the industry.”
Monroy said in a statement: “Mexico is undergoing dynamic political change that requires our attention. The industry has great opportunities in Mexico and we will continue to work to create new investment opportunities and an improved business landscape for the creative industries.”
