A friend of missing X Factor star Levi Davis has revealed that a text message they sent to the rugby star was read two months after he disappeared in Spain, raising new hopes he may be found alive.
Former Bath rugby player Davis, 24, went missing on October 29 after leaving a friend in Ibiza to catch the ferry to Barcelona alone.
His phone has apparently not been used since it was last spotted near Barcelona train station on the night of October 29.
But now it has emerged that a message sent to Davis by a friend on December 15 – two months after his disappearance – has been read.
The message, sent at 1.25pm on December 15, reads: “Please come home. I love you. And miss you xx.’

Below the last message is a “Read” message, indicating that someone has seen the message.
Davis – who also appeared on X Factor: Celebrity – was last seen leaving an Irish pub in central Barcelona on October 29 last year.
His family fear the 24-year-old winger may have drowned in the sea near the city’s harbour.
They are frustrated by the reluctance of police in the Catalan city to search CCTV footage and send divers to search the waters at the ferry terminal where his passport was found a week after he disappeared.
Davis’ relatives say they are angry at speculation he may have been kidnapped from the streets of Barcelona by a Somali gang as he racked up an unpaid debt of £100,000 in London.
Davis spoke of blackmail by criminals who threatened to kill him and his family in a chilling latest video, which he initially deleted and resurfaced last week – three months after he disappeared in Barcelona.
Gavin Burrows, whose Line of Inquiry company is offering a £10,000 reward for information leading to Davis, says he has received a tape which claims a TV producer took compromising photos of the rugby player who became a reality star after appearing on the X Factor.
There is no indication that he worked or had anything to do with the hit show or any other reality TV show that Davis came out with the following year.
Mr Burrows claimed in a tweet: “Over a number of years, after the Levi Davis case came to light, we received valuable alleged information from a number of former contestants and other contestants on the X Factor show, which the allegations in Davis. The video appears to be true.”
Mr Burrows said he found Davis’ Instagram video of alleged blackmail, which he had only posted four days before his disappearance, and with the permission of family and friends released it for information.

Davis was on a ferry from Ibiza to Barcelona, from where he went missing
The former Bath rugby player says at the start of the 15-minute footage: “Hello, my name is Levi Davis and my life is in danger”. used by the extortionists to control and manipulate him.
He said: “They told me in a way that was not direct but absolutely true that if I said anything they would try to kill me and threaten my family.
“And they tried to frame me too.”
Davis also claims that he gave information to the police about his manipulators, but that corrupt cops gave the information directly to them and refused to help him.
He stated in the music video that the filming of him in “compromising positions” while drunk occurred after he met an unnamed individual with whom he began a relationship and met regularly after his 2019 residency at X Factor ended.
Davis, who made history at the time by becoming the first rugby player to be revealed as bisexual while playing, reportedly joined Celebs Go Dating as a straight man.
Burrows said last month that he was not convinced that the extortion that Davis spoke of was necessarily the cause of his disappearance, but that it should be thoroughly investigated by the police.
While he and his team fear Davis is dead and it is suspected he may have drowned in Barcelona harbor near where his passport was found, he said today: “If he is alive, we believe he is in involuntary exile somewhere like a monastery to protect yourself from poisonous individuals.’
Last month Mr Burrows said he believed an arrest was imminent and claimed a man who was a friend of Davis had interfered in his investigation and requested police take him in for questioning.

In 2019, Davis starred on Celebrity X Factor with fellow rugby stars Ben Foden and Thom Evans in a singing group called Try Star. He was also on E4’s Celebs Go Dating in 2020
After submitting a damning exposé with evidence of blackmail and threats allegedly over Somali mafia debts, he said: “I think the Spanish police will have enough to make an arrest when they see what our own investigations into the brought light.”
“At least it should pay them enough to bring someone in for questioning.
“I am not at liberty to name names at the moment, but there is one person about whom I have serious suspicions and who I believe can shed light on what happened to Levi.
“This person is someone who, while pretending to help, is believed to have only been an obstacle to our investigation not moving forward.”
Davis took a break from Europe after a knee injury sidelined rugby.
He was picked up by CCTV at around 10pm on October 29 as he left the Old Irish Pub at La Rambla in Barcelona, a few hours after boarding a boat with just 40 euros (£35) and no clean clothes taken from Ibiza.
Friend Richard Squire, who officially reported him missing to Barcelona police after his family alerted West Midlands police, described his decision to leave the island as “sudden”.
It was revealed last month that Davis’ Instagram had mysteriously deleted up to 38 contacts following his disappearance.
Davis was a rugby player for Bath between 2017 and 2020 when he joined Ealing Trailfinders. A year later he signed with the Worthing Raiders.
The rugby player turned reality star appeared on X Factor: Celebrity in 2019 with fellow rugby players Ben Foden and Thom Evans as part of the group Try Star. In 2020, he appeared on the E4 dating series Celebs Go Virtual Dating.
