The Edinburgh TV Festival has announced Channel 4 Chief Strategy Officer Kiran Nataraja as Advisory Chair for 2023.
Nataraja, the channel’s director of content strategy and planning, will lead panels and keynotes for the annual festival, which has been extended to four days this year. It runs from August 22 to 25 and has the theme “The Passion and The Power of TV”.
Nataraja agreed glasses case Broadcaster in 2011 and has since worked her way up to lead the planning and scheduling teams while designing the live strategy for the Channel 4 portfolio, including VoD player All4.
“For as long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with television,” says Nataraja.
“I was endlessly fascinated by the different worlds and voices on screen. I am honored to accept this role so that we can discover the passion and responsibility we all share to create powerful programs that can create positive change for a viewer.”
Edinburgh chief executive Fatima Salaria called her an “influential and hands-on figure”.
“Kiran and people like her are the heartbeat of the industry,” she added. “What she doesn’t know about our shows and the way audiences react to them is not worth knowing.”
Last year’s edition of the annual TV meeting was moderated by presenter and journalist Afua Hirsch and took place in person for the first time since 2019.
