Paddy Considine and Mena Massoud star in AGC Studios’ boxing drama Giant;  Products by White Star Productions & Tea Shop Productions

rice considine (House of the Dragon, Peaky Blinders) and Mena Massoud (Aladdin, Jack Ryan) has signed on to star in the sports drama Hugewritten and directed by Rowan Athale (The Rise, Gangs of London, strange but true) with Sylvester Stallone and Braden Aftergood of Balboa Productions on board as executive producers.

Produced by Mark Lane of Tea Shop Productions and Kevin Sampson of White Star Productions, and starring AGC Chairman and CEO Stuart Ford, the film is based on the true story of British Yemeni boxer Prince Naseem “Naz ” Hamed and his wealth from a world championship under the guidance of his Irish-born boxing trainer, Brendan Ingle.

The visual follows Hamed from his humble beginnings on the rough, working-class streets of Sheffield to his discovery by Ingle, himself a steelworker turned boxing trainer. Their unlikely partnership, Naz’s unorthodox style, haughty personality and sheer in-ring dominance propelled her to the pinnacle of boxing’s elite and to an unprecedented level of global superstardom, all despite rampant Islamophobia and racism in Britain in the 1990s, 80s and 90s 90s.

Launching the project, Athale said, “I wanted to bring this film to the screens for many years. The story of legendary boxing trainer Brendan Ingle and his tumultuous relationship with protégé “Prince” Naseem is both legendary and truly cinematic. It is exciting, necessary, hilarious and heartbreaking and to make this film with the incomparable Paddy Considine and Mena Massoud and with the support of the incomparable Sylvester Stallone and his Balboa Productions team is a dream come true.”

The deal was brokered for Paddy Considine by CAA and the Independent Talent Group on behalf of Mena Massoud by Derek Kroeger of Myman, Greenspan, Fox, Rosenberg, Mobasser, Younger & Light, Gersh and LINK Entertainment and negotiated by SVP, Legal & Business Affairs Anant Tamirisa commissioned by AGC Studios.
