Alan Komissaroff, senior vice president of news and politics at Fox News, dies at age 47

Alan Komissaroff, senior vice president of news and politics at Fox News, died Friday, nearly two weeks after suffering a heart attack at his home.

Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott and President and Editor-in-Chief Jay Wallace issued a memo notifying employees of his death.

“Alan was a leader and mentor at Fox News Media who was an integral part of our daily news work and played an indispensable role in every election cycle,” they wrote. “Recent coverage of the midterm elections was easily one of the best nights of special coverage he has produced in his career. And he was the ultimate Manufacturer: Breaking news, politics, special events – there was not a more stable or reliable colleague to be in the control room with during the most important events of our time, and his acumen and passion for news enhanced our work.

Bret Baier, anchor of special report, told viewers that Komissaroff “played a critical leadership role in our coverage of every major news event and election night. Alan recently led a discussion about midterms at a company town hall. He was a lucky fighter. He always had a smile on his face. He was a real craftsman. He always thought outside the box and made us better every day.”

Komissaroff joined the network straight out of college when it launched in 1996 as a writer, producer and showrunner. In his most recent role as senior vice president, he oversaw political reporting and election night.

“His sharp sense of humor and quick wit throughout his incredible career also led to the many lifelong friendships he formed here,” Scott and Wallace wrote.

Komissaroff is survived by his wife Rachael and children Ben (17) and Olivia (13). A GoFundMe page has also been launched for posts related to his family. The network will run an obituary package special report Monday.
