The Finns, voted Europe’s most responsible consumers, it’s official

The British site Savoo.co.uk has ranked the European countries with the most responsible consumption habits. If France does not even appear in the top 10, Finland, Denmark and Slovenia form the highest podium.

Dressing responsibly means everything and nothing. But we can at least agree on the fact that buying as few clothes as possible, and rather used ones when necessary, avoiding throwing them away and encouraging recycling are decisive factors in this matter.

UK discount site Savoo.co.uk ranked several European countries according to the shopping habits of their inhabitants to find out who was most responsible. It measured against 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations, but also the recycling rate, the amount of textile and household waste, the footprint of food consumption and the density of second-hand shops and used.

If Finland comes first, it is because it ranks first in the Sustainable Development Report of 193 United Nations member states, with a score of 86.51 out of 100, Savoo reports. The country reduced its consumption footprint by 20.37% between 2010 and 2020, the fourth largest reduction after Italy (26.03%), Sweden (21.99%) and Greece (20.75%) . Where Finland could improve is in its density of secondhand shops and thrift stores. But it’s not France that throws the stone at her, given that she doesn’t even appear in this top 10…
