Now the FISIOS say they will strike! Another union is joining the wave of NHS winter walkouts as they plan action for early 2023

NHS physiotherapists are the latest group to call strike action and could join a tsunami of strikes by health professionals.

Union, the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, announced that 84 per cent of members in England and Wales had voted to join the picket line.

The turnout among union members was 54 percent.

This means physiotherapists from 112 NHS organizations in England and every NHS health authority in Wales now have a six-month strike mandate.

A further 12 NHS employers in England and eight in Wales have returned to support industrial action short of strike action.

This means playing by the rules, not working overtime, taking strict breaks and only doing her job as her contract dictates.

The CSP will now decide exactly where and when to strike if the government does not improve wages.

Physiotherapists are just the latest group of workers to say they will strike for pay, joining nurses and paramedics who have already announced strike dates for this month.

Jill Taylor, chair of the CSP employment committee, said the result was a resounding mandate for the union.

“We never voted on pay, but the physiotherapists now have no choice. We are understaffed, overworked and exhausted,” she said

“Providing excellent care to our patients is our top priority – and to do that we need more staff – we need to attract people to the NHS and we need to keep people in the NHS. We simply cannot do this until the government pays NHS workers more fairly.

The union wants a wage increase above the rate of inflation for its members.
