Nicolas Cage has revealed that as a child he was convinced he was an alien.
The 58-year-old actor said he was “shocked” to find he had “normal organs and a normal skeleton”, just like everyone else.
Speaking to Rampstyle magazine, he opened up about his childhood and said he had trouble getting along with people because he was socially awkward.

He explained: “My dad told me he felt he had to introduce himself to me because I was such a stranger.
“I was shocked the day I went to the doctor as a child and found out I had normal organs and a normal skeleton, because I was sure I was from another planet.”
Nicolas described how his social awkwardness inspired him to pursue an acting career.

He explained: “My father told me he felt he had to introduce himself to me because I was such a stranger” (pictured with his father, August Coppola).
He added: “I had trouble connecting with other people. When I saw David Bowie in The Man Who Fell to Earth, I realized I had to do something. So I became an actor.”
The Oscar winner has made headlines over the years for his eccentric stories about his life.
In 2009, he revealed to Parade magazine that he was followed by a mime artist during the filming of Bringing Out the Dead.
Nicolas said: “I think it would fall under the stalker category. I was followed by a pantomime – silent but perhaps deadly.
“Somehow this mime showed up on the set of Bringing Out the Dead and started doing weird things… I have no idea how he got past security.

“Finally the producers stepped up and I haven’t seen the pantomime since. But it must have been disturbing.’
He also spoke about a home invasion he went through while promoting his film Trespass at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival.
He recalls: “It was two in the morning. I was living in Orange County at the time and sleeping with my wife. My 2 year old was in another room at the time.
“I opened my eyes and there was a naked man in my leather jacket eating fudge in front of my bed. I know it sounds strange… but it was terrible.”
Nicolas also made a number of bizarre purchases, including shrunken heads, albino cobras, a crow, exotic artwork, an alleged haunted house and a $276,000 stolen tyrannosaurus skull which he then had to return.
He also bought land in a New Orleans cemetery in 2010 to build a 30-foot pyramidal mausoleum as his final resting place.
