A brave doctor decided to perform an endoscopy on himself – all in the name of science.
And strangely enough, Dr. Nitin Joshi even videotaped the notoriously cumbersome process.
Horrific images made him gag repeatedly as he carefully inserted the thin, black tube down his throat to peer into his stomach.
Cameras attached to the end of the flexible tube also recorded the journey down his esophagus, with a live stream on a screen behind him.
Once Dr. Joshi from India even wiped the eyes of a colleague.

The clip, which was shared on Twitter on Sunday, shows a doctor performing the painful procedure on himself by inserting an endoscope through his mouth and into his esophagus
Dr. Joshi can be heard shouting throughout the video and seems to be in pain at the end
And he chokes again as he pulls out the pipe – apparently at least a meter long.
Dr. Joshi, whose old footage was reposted on Twitter on Sunday, wanted to show that the procedure can be performed without anesthesia.
NHS doctors currently offer sedatives to patients to help them relax before starting similar procedures.
The most common type of endoscopy is a colonoscopy, which involves inserting a tube through your rectum to examine your intestines.
During a gastroscopy, the tube is inserted into the esophagus. It is used to diagnose and sometimes treat disorders of the upper digestive system, such as stomach ulcers or cancer.

Another medic, presumably from the same Galaxy Hospital in Nanded, half wipes away what appears to be a tear from dr. Joshi’s face.

The video’s caption reads: “This is probably the first time in India that a gastroenterologist has performed an upper GI endoscopy (OGD) self-assessment on himself.

The video was made by Dr. Keith Siau, a gastroenterologist in Cornwall, shared on Twitter.
People were quick to respond to their disgust and fascination with the video, with one saying the clip was “just horrifying”.
Another said: ‘I have so many questions… not the least of which is ‘why?’ and ‘what bet did he lose?’
When one person said, “Um, I suppose it’s a way to kill time between patient appointments,” Dr. Siau, “a way to reduce the waiting list.”
