In the UK, medical regulators reported 438 cases of blood clots and 79 deaths related to the AstraZeneca vaccine.

More than 900 claims have now been made for death or vaccine injury totaling £110m. However, no payment was made.

Sarah Moore, a lawyer who represents 95 victims at the law firm Hausfeld, told The Mail on Sunday’s Medical Minefield podcast this week: “The vaccination program has been extremely successful and we know it’s safe for the vast majority of us.

“But there is a small group of people he is unsure of. And far from providing them with a way out of the pandemic, it has put them in some kind of waking nightmare”.

Moore says that because the vaccine damage compensation scheme established in 1979 is outdated, those affected do not have access to any form of payment.

“The program is there to say, look, you did the right thing. You stood up and got vaccinated, you were really unlucky and we are helping you financially support it. But it’s an old system and it can’t handle the number of people claiming compensation.’

The scheme allows for a maximum payout of £120,000, but Moore said: ‘When you factor in loss of income, retirement and continuing care needs, that figure starts to look very inadequate.’
