One lawmaker warned that social media is pushing young women to use cowboy Botox providers that will test their insecurity and cause irreversible damage.

Laura Trott, who is campaigning on the issue, said that teens are flooded with aggressive advertisements for unscrupulous suppliers on platforms like Instagram.

In his first interview with The Mail on Sunday, Trott said the industry has become the “wild west of healthcare.”

“Eighty percent of people find a cosmetics supplier through social media,” says Ms. Trott. “Definitely that’s where most people feel pressure.”

Working with Culture Minister Nadine Dorries on the dangers of social media in the Online Safety Act, Sevenoaks’ Conservative MP has already successfully discussed a bill banning cosmetic Botox and fillers for children under the age of 18.

New guidelines behind the bill, which is expected to go into effect in May, mean providers can no longer advertise these services to children under the age of 18.

But he wants to go further.

She told The Mail on Sunday about her disgust at the way everyone gets a shot and starts applying Botox.

The 37-year-old also revealed that she has personally seen the disastrous effects such procedures can have if they go wrong, including the case of a 15-year-old girl who got fillers and ‘pepped lips’.

“She had to go to the hospital and they almost had to cut her lips off. They will never be the same. And she was not warned,” she said.

“These are decisions that can really change your life, but you have no idea of ​​the consequences. You assume you are protected and not protected. It’s just heartbreaking”.
