Writer and director Rian Johnson he recently sat down with GQ to analyze and discuss some of the projects he’s done throughout his career. These movies include Knives out, Glass onion: a knife-edged mystery, Brick, The Bloom Brothers, Loopers, breaking Badand everyone’s favourite… Stars Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi.
I like Johnson as a director, and he is at his best when developing his own original content. While I’m interested to see what his vision is for the Star Wars trilogy that he’s developing, I’d be fine with him if he continued to make fun original films.
Johnson offers some interesting insight into his project and at one point talks about working with Joseph-Jordon Levitt and compare his acting style to that of Lorenzo Oliviero. When it comes tot CrochetHe explained:
“I wanted Joe to look more like Bruce. I thought it would be fun. Like, we’re doing a sci-fi movie, let’s do it…and Joe is also an actor who, in my experience, is kind of an actor in the style of Old school Laurence Olivier, where he works from the outside to find the inside. He finds the voice, he finds the posture, he finds the costume, and that helps him find his way to the inner core of who the character is. So the idea of literally starting with a new face, where in the morning he would take off his makeup and look in the mirror and look at someone completely different was really appealing to him, and it seemed like the kind of fun swing we could try with this one. “
