The technology of “Avatar: The Sense of Water” made the film as immersive as the first one. The film has arrived to surpass the initial release of the original and has good forecasts for its second week, in which it is anticipated a softer-than-usual drop in recent hits. However, there are limits that even the most advanced visual effects cannot reach: preventing boys and girls from growing up. James Cameron revealed it one of the reasons sequels to the saga are already in movies is that they simply couldn’t wait.

The director was blunt: “The “Stranger Things” effect occurs when they should still be in high school and appear to be 27 years old”. Despite that, he tells Entertainment Weekly that he’s a big fan of the Duffer brothers’ series and says that as a viewer “Put Unbelief Aside”although that does not mean that this dissonance continues to occur.
In the ‘Avatar’ saga it would have been even more obvious: Trinity Bliss, who plays the youngest of the Sullys, she started filming at the age of 7 and finished it at 13. Jack Champion is another clear example: he’s 18 now, but he was 12 when he was selected to play Spider. “I haven’t stopped growing”Cameron says. That is why ‘Avatar 3’ was filmed at the same time as the sequel currently in theaters and is in post-production, and ‘Avatar 4’ is also partially made. The second part of the fourth episode will not have to worry about the passage of time, because it is given “a big time jump” after the first act, which Cameron places exactly in the script: it’s on page 35. “Let’s skip as many years as needed”.
The greatest fear: the pandemic
James Cameron was really scared when COVID-19 hit, freezing productions around the world. The hiatus lasted six months and coincided exactly with the moment when Jake Champion would give his growth spurt. Cameron thought it would be disastrous: “I imagined situations where we didn’t work again for a year and a half, and we’re completely screwed because he [Champion] he had gotten too oldand then we should go back and shoot with another guy again.”tells Entertainment Weekly. “He was like, ‘Hand me the rifle.’ But luckily that wasn’t the case. We were able to appeal to the New Zealand government to let a small group of our [actores] key and therefore be able to bring production back”.
‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’ is currently in theaters. ‘Avatar 3’ is expected to premiere on December 20, 2024 and ‘Avatar 4’ on December 18, 2026. ‘Avatar 5’ depends on the box office of the previous ones, but if it gets the official green light, it could hit the big screen on December 22, 2028 .
