Like every year, this was one of the great titles for all tastes, from the most introspective science fiction to the lightest comedy. But to recap what happened in the last 12 months, let’s remember those horror, action, drama and fantasy films that will become classics in the next few years, as only time will tell.

Within the horror terrain, there were many horror films that will become classics, from ‘Prey’ to ‘Smile’, to ‘Terrifier 2’. But if one takes the crown, that’s “Nope,” Jordan Peele’s latest story, starring Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer, who bring to life two brothers who face a threat from beyond this planet. Available on YouTube, Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.

Batman

On the side of superhero movies that have become instant classics, very few can compete with “The Batman”. Although “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” or “Black Panther: Wakanda Foverer” stood out outside the Marvel formula, it is DC and Matt Reeves who have shaped one of the best Dark Knight stories ever with Robert Pattinson. Available on HBO Max.

Top Gun: nonconformist

One of the genres that has the highest number of deliveries each year is the action movies, which produced a classic that will be remembered for many years, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. It is true that there was great competition with ‘Bullet Train’ or ‘The Woman King’ but the story with Tom Cruise is something that can rarely be experienced in front of a big screen. Available on YouTube and Amazon PrimeVideo.

Everything everywhere all at once

Pardon James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way of Water,” but an adventure, sci-fi, and fantasy all rolled into one, this year’s “Everything Everywhere All at Once” takes the cake. Daniels’ masterpiece was a surprise in every respect and Michelle Yeoh offered a trip to the multiverse that others already wish they had. Available on YouTube and Amazon PrimeVideo.

Pinocchio

At the last moment, Guillermo del Toro’s latest work, Netflix’s ‘Pinocchio’ managed to enter the list. In a year that Pixar released ‘Turning Red,’ it was the director from Guadalajara who pointed out ways to win as many awards as possible in the upcoming awards season, in all categories where an animated film can win a statuette .

after sun

Finally, and continuing with a line that left 2021 in the category of best drama, we have ‘Aftersun’, a drama from director Charlotte Wells, starring Paul Mescal and Frank Corio. Produced by A24, the story follows Sophie, a girl who lives in the memory of a holiday she took with her father 20 years ago, and reevaluates their relationship.
