Sony continues with the expansion of “Uncharted” after conquering consoles and cinemas earlier this year. The Tom Holland-starring film grossed $400 million at the worldwide box office, making it the twelfth highest-grossing film of the year for now. At the moment we don’t know anything about a sequel, but Nathan Drake’s new adventure is already taking shape, which will not be on the big screen or in pixels but on the tracks of a roller coaster.
Next year Port Aventura World will welcome the official attraction of the film ‘Uncharted’ which they prepare together with Sony Pictures Entertainment. Sara a mix between a roller coaster and a “dark ride”, that is, we will go up in wagons but the tour will take place inside an industrial warehouse of 4,800 square meters and 16 meters high, according to the two companies. The attraction will consist of an introduction in which “surprises” advance and then a journey along a path of about 700 meters and about 12 meters high in which we will discover “hidden and unexplored territories” while going in search of treasure. They promise cutting-edge technology, but don’t confirm whether Holland or Mark Wahlberg will somehow participate in the attraction with a video or similar.
Visitors to the resort located in Salou, Tarragona will be able to become Nate and Sully mid 2023, when they plan to inaugurate the attraction designed by Intamin Amusement Rides and Sally Dark Rides, which had a budget of 25 million euros. The attraction will be located in the Far West, the thematic area of Port Aventura dedicated to the Far West.
Will there be ‘Uncharted 2’?
as we said, Sony has not greenlit a second ‘Uncharted’ film to date, although this investment in the franchise shows that they continue to bet a lot on it. Ruben Fleischer, director of the first episode, told us before the premiere “It depends on the viewers and their desire to see another film”but he said he was completely ready for the job of going on an expedition with Tom Holland again.
