The first season of Lucasfilm Star Wars: Andor recently concluded, and it was a great show! Tony Gilroy he developed such an amazing show and told one of the most engaging and interesting Star Wars stories of all time.
A rogue one screenwriter Gary Whitta he recently took to social media and revealed another awesome one Star Wars series concept which he developed with his own A rogue one co-writer, Chris Weitz. Their story would be set between Return of the Jedi And The Force Awakens, and would have followed the Rebel Alliance as they assembled a Mossad-style team to hunt down Imperial war criminals.
I love this idea! This is basically the story Steven Spielberg said inside Monk, but is set in the Star Wars universe. Whitta shared on Twitter:
Years ago my Rogue One co-writer Chris Weitz and I had a cool idea for a TV show about a Mossad-style rebel team hunting down escaped and missing Imperial war criminals after the fall of the Empire. Could have made a nice bookend for R1. We’ve never done anything with it though.

I have no idea if this movie was ever submitted to Lucasfilm, but if it hasn’t been submitted, it’s not too late! Had it been cast and denied, that would have been a real shame. This is just a great concept, one that would make for a great series and show like it Andor it could help pave the way for that to happen.
There are so many layers to a story like this and the like Andor, would be more focused on people on the ground, people facing tough challenges, tough choices, and ethical dilemmas. I just like the idea of a talented group of Rebels hunting down the scum of the Empire who are trying to escape the consequences of what they’ve done.
What do you think of this version of a Star Wars series?
