Filming on Amazon’s new film has officially concluded Carrie TV series and creator Mike Flanagan I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. The Haunting of Hill House AND Midnight mass The director shared his excitement on Instagram over the weekend, calling the experience one of the best of his career.
“Our last day of filming for CARRIE. This was one of the best experiences of my career, one of the best ensembles I’ve ever worked with, and already one of my favorite projects ever. I can’t wait for you guys to see what we accomplished.”
The series is a new interpretation Stephen Kingis a 1974 horror classic, telling the story of a bullied teenager who discovers terrifying telekinetic powers. Summer H. Howell plays Carrie, joined by a killer ensemble that includes Matthew Lillard, Amber Halftone, Samantha Sloyan, Kate Siegel, Katee SackhoffAND Rahul Kohli.
This project marks Flanagan’s first television series outside of Netflix, where he has built an incredible horror legacy The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight mass, The midnight clubAND The Fall of House Usher.
The move to Amazon feels like a new chapter for the director, who has had a creative streak adapting King’s work.
Just last summer, Flanagan came out The Life of Chucka film adaptation of King’s tale of a man’s life told backwards. The film starred Tom Hiddleston, Karen Gillan, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Marco HamillAND Jacob Tremblayand proved once again that Flanagan has a deep understanding of King’s storytelling and emotional horror.
Carrie has been adapted for the screen several times, starting with Brian DePalmafeatures the legendary 1976 version Sissy Spacekand it is a film that set the bar for supernatural horror.
Subsequent adaptations in 2002 (with Angela Bettis) and 2013 (with Chloe Grace Moretz) didn’t quite capture the same critical magic. With Flanagan at the helm of this latest adaptation, however, fans are hoping that this new series will finally do King’s novel justice for a modern audience.
There is no release date for yet Carriebut if Flanagan’s past work is any indication, this will be something great.
