It was an exciting day to learn that Henry Cavill he was back as Superman! It’s something fans have been hoping to see happen for years! Well, it turns out his return to superhero is in trouble. According to The Wrap, there is no concrete deal for Cavill to return as the Man of Steel and there is no writer or director associated with the film.
They go on to say that “there is no forward momentum on the project.” As you know the co-CEOs of DC Studio James Gunn and Peter Safran have come up with their plans for the future of the DC Cinematic Universe, and there’s a chance those plans won’t include Cavill’s Superman.
There’s no doubt that Gunn and Safran have discussed a lot of things in these meetings to figure out what to do, and it wouldn’t be surprising to learn that they’ve discussed scrapping all the DCEU stuff so they can start fresh. , which is something I’ve heard. But we don’t know what plan they actually decided to go ahead with.
They do have a plan, though, and Gunn confirmed they will reveal this plan to Warner Bros. Discovery in two months. Right now, they’re polishing everything up and getting ready to present it to them.
Now Cavill has been very excited about Superman’s future and has hyped his return with the kind of tone he would like the next film to have. But, according to what’s out, there’s a chance the movie won’t happen.
I would love nothing more than for James Gunn to take to Twitter and end these relationships. He has in the past, but these days he doesn’t spend as much time on social media as he used to. I’m super excited for Cavill to reprise his role as Superman! I hope it happens! However, I can also understand why they would want to start from scratch. It’s much easier to start with a clean slate.
It will be really interesting to know what Gunn and Safran are planning. It will probably be a while before they announce anything to fans, so right now all we can do is speculate and read the rumors.
