Carmen Arrufat: “Entering the sixth season allowed us to learn how to manage an ‘Elite’ from the previous actors”

Who would be crazy enough to accept the job of managing the social networks of Las Encinas, a school that accumulates so many blacks that there is no carpet capable of covering them? Well, Sara, the character of Carmen Arrufat, one of the new additions to the sixth season of ‘Elite’. She is part of the pairing of fashion influencers with Alex Pastrana’s character, Raúl. In our chat with the two, however, the actress advances that “Being an influencer is not what I would highlight” from them.

But social networks are very present in the career of Pastrana and Arrufat, because as he rightly says, “Networks are closely tied right now to being an actor”. His partner in ‘Elite’ comments: “It’s a tool that can be nice. You have to be careful that it doesn’t eat up your time too much because the more notifications, the longer it takes. If you can control it, that’s great”. The two noticed the “Elite” effect the day they were announced as new faces in the cast: “I remember, on the first day, every hour there were about two thousand, three thousand more followers and I freaked out. Then it went down”. Alex Pastrana underlines how much he has felt supported by the fans of the series from the first moment: “Not only the number of followers, which has an impact, but also the affection of this family, the fandom of ‘Elite’, which welcomes you”.

They also know how to see the positive side of having landed in the Carlos Montero and Jaime Vaca series when it is already one of the longest running on Netflix: “We have many advantages entering the sixth, it offers us the opportunity to learn a lot from previous players, at the level of filming and especially the question of the network, how to manage an ‘Elite’. We know where we enter”.

“We are not an example. We are making fiction”

And if they know what they are getting themselves into, they will also be prepared for the debate that Sara and Raúl will arouse. But Arrufat warns: “We are not an example. We are making fiction and telling a fictional story. Our role is not for anyone to see themselves reflected and represented or to follow an example. Our function is to open up a debate, and if it helps you as a viewer to see that this isn’t right, that’s ultimately the important thing.. That you consider why it doesn’t feel right but then in your life you see it all around you”.
