There are several factors why a Mexican is so close to the world of horror, because, although this type of cinema is made in other parts of the world, Mexicans are the ones who seek horror films the most in Latin America. While, globally, Mexico is the second country on the list, just below Iran, as big fans of these stories.
According to data released by Google during the last week of October, Mexico is the second country looking for more horror movies and series, Worldwide. As these are stories that many prefer to avoid in order not to be scared or frightened, Mexicans have embraced these kinds of stories, as part of a culture that likes to tell and experience them firsthand.

Some the most wanted horror movies in Mexico are ‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey’, which has already revealed its exclusive release date in Mexico, by Cinemex, which will screen them in a single day, February 15, 2023. As well as ‘Terifier 2’ and its premieres part, the story of Art, the Clown that this year has become one of the most viral films of the genre.
The rest of the list also includes titles such as “La Llorona”, although it is not specified which of all the horror films that exist with this name it refers to. Although, being one of the best known legends in Latin America, this research is more extensive than it seems. There is also ‘Smile’, the most successful horror film at the box office of this year 2022.
The most wanted horror characters for Halloween
It is no coincidence that the term horror film rose in searches during the last week of October and that, with the celebration of Halloween, some of the Horror movie characters were also in trend. Like Michael Myers, of the Halloween franchise, he was more wanted than Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees, certainly for the costumes of the season.
Within YouTube, tutorials and all terror-related content in general have had an increase in consumption. There is no doubt that, in Mexico, as in the rest of Latin America, horror films are part of the general interest, sometimes competing with superhero films, which is one of the most successful trends not only in this season, but in the last 10 years.
