Here’s how Disney will celebrate its centennial: exhibits, immersive experiences, and more

Disney celebrates a milestone in its history next year. In 1923, brothers Roy and Walt Disney founded The Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. Almost a hundred years later, The Walt Disney Company is one of the world’s premier entertainment companies and the brand is one of the most loved by fans of all ages. The company intends to celebrate its centenary in style with a series of events enclosed under the slogan “100 years of emotions”.

In September next year, Barcelona will host the immersive experience “Disney, the power of friendship: the experience”, a tour of spaces designed to immerse yourself in settings inspired by the various Disney worlds, such as the mysterious garden of ‘Alice in Wonderland’, the surfing bay of ‘Lilo and Stitch’, the oasis of ‘The Lion King’ or the ‘Mickeyverse’ of Mickey and his friends. Tickets will go on sale in 2023. The experience will tour other European countries, such as the UK, Germany or France.

The Disney 100 exhibition is expected soon also in our country, featuring a selection of illustrations, costumes, props and classic merchandise collected from the Disney Archives to pay homage to its 100-year history. The first stop in Europe will take place on April 18 in Munich, Germany.

The Hollywood Sound Orchestra will go on tour with the Disney 100 concert, in which the most recognized soundtracks of the company’s classics will be reviewed, accompanied by images taken from films and live voices by various artists. Tickets for the first European concerts in the UK are already on sale, and at the moment we don’t know if they will pass through Spain.

Of course, they will also be launched next year new merchandising products dedicated to the centenary, such as the Platinum Collection, in which we will find a special version of the Mickey Mouse ear headband that is fashionable in theme parks, and the Disney 100 Decades Collection, with merchandising dedicated to an iconic film from every decade of the company, starting with Mickey’s short film “Steamboat Willie” as an ambassador of the 1920s.

A day of celebration at Disneyland Paris

Finally, Disneyland Paris will celebrate its centenary with a great day full of exclusive shows and activities. It will take place on October 16, 2023 and tickets are already on sale. If you can’t attend that day, there will be special events in the park throughout the year to pay homage to 100 years, starting with the New Year’s Eve party itself, tickets for which are already on sale. Disney also announced that in Spain there are still many surprises to be revealed so that these 100 years of emotions are celebrated in style.
