Jeff Goldblum is in talks to join the cast of Universal Picture’s two-part film adaptation of the Broadway musical Evil. Should this casting actually end, Goldblum will take on the role of the Magician, which is an absolutely perfect casting! I hope he really ends up in the role because that would be great!

The three-time Tony Award-winning musical was adapted from a book by Gregorio Maguire and is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz. It tells the story of how green-skinned Elphaba became the evil witch of the West, as well as the trajectory of the sorceress Glinda to become known as the good witch. Cinzia Erivo is playing Elphaba, with Ariana Grande in the role of Glinda. The film is also the protagonist Jonathan Bailey (Broadchurch And Crashing) as Fiero.

Jon M. Chu he is directing both installments of the film, from a screenplay written by the writer of the play’s book Winne Holzman and composer-lyricist Stefano Schwartz. Speaking of the two-part film, Chu said: “We decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and make not just one ‘Wicked’ film, but two! With more space, we can tell the story of “Wicked” as it was meant to be told, bringing even more depth and surprise to the travels of these beloved characters. “

The film is scheduled for release on December 25, 2024 and December 25, 2025. What do you think of Goldblum as the Wizard !?
