Yoshiaki Hirabayashi debuted the first long look at the highly anticipated Resident Evil 4 at the recent Resident Evil Showcase. The trailer looks amazing and showcases the beautiful new graphics as we see Leon fighting for his life against the new ways the Ganados attack, chase, and outflank him. Fortunately, Leon has some new tricks up his sleeve with new combat maneuvers, including the ability to parry enemy attacks and deliver final blows with his knife.
We also got a first look at recreating fan favorite characters and gameplay mechanics with an emphasis on more meaningful player choice. The Merchant returns to sell Leon useful items and weapon upgrades while offering more exclusive rewards for outsiders willing to collect rare gems and trade them for other items. We also got a feel for Leon’s trusty briefcase and how, in true Resident Evil fashion, he places an emphasis on meticulous resource management.
Pre-orders have been announced for Resident Evil 4, a Deluxe Edition and a Collector’s Edition for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X | S and PC via Steam. The Deluxe Edition will include additional game content, costumes, weapons, a treasure map, and more. The Collector’s Edition is a physical box only and in addition to everything included in the Deluxe Edition will contain a figure of Leon, a physical map, an art book and more. By pre-ordering the standard edition you will receive the attached case: gold and special pendant: pistol ammunition, while by pre-ordering the deluxe or collector’s editions you will receive the attached case: classic and special pendant: green herbs. The game will be released on March 24, 20234.
Resident Evil 4 is a hugely popular game in the franchise that has completely reinvented games with its new third-person, non-tank movement. The remake feels like an incredible giveaway that preserves everything you love and makes them even better. I played the remake for Resident Evil 2 and I loved it, so I have no doubt this is going to be an amazing gaming experience. Check out the trailer below and the full Resident Evil Showcase and let me know what you think. Do you think Ashely will be less annoying?
