

Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro will be premiered in a special screening at FICM – Dissemination (Special: Instagram)
Before the new movie “Pinocchio” by Guillermo del Toro reaches Netflix, the film will premiere in Latin America in the twentieth edition of Morelia International Film Festival in a special function, which was confirmed during the presentation of the official festival program.
After seeing the first images of Pinocchio, we can confirm all the work with which Del Toro has made this production, since figures and settings made by hand and with attention to even the smallest details, the author confirms the love he has for the literary classic of Carlo Collodi.
The film will be a musical made in stop-motion animation, in which del Toro will co-direct with Mark Gustafson, and follow the adventures of Pinocchio as he tries to find his place in the world. He will feature the interpretations of Gregory Mann and Ewan Mcgregor for the voices of Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket respectively.
What other details do we know about the FICM?
Guillermo del Toro’s new stop-motion animated film based on the classic Pinocchio is about to be released in theaters, and for this reason it will be part of one of the special screenings of the FICM, also sharing the ground with another acclaimed director, Alejandro G. Iñarritu, who will premiere his most recent film, ‘Bardo, false chronicle of few truths’.

Within the program announced for FICM in 2022, the festival includes guests such as the director, Caire Denisas well as the Spanish actress Maribel Verdu, which will present “Raymon and Ray”. Likewise, both artists will present a cycle dedicated to their work.
Among the films that will be screened during the festival, ‘Decision to leave’ by Park Chan-wook, ‘Empire of Light’ by Sam Mendes; “Venus” by Jaume Balaguero; ‘RMN’ by Cristian Mungui; ‘Alcarràs’, by Carla Simón, among others. Add it, there will be a characteristic of “ET L’Extra Terrestre”by Steven Spielberg, as well as a cycle dedicated to the Mexican Alejandro Galindo, the famous director of the Golden Age.
On the other hand, Oscar winner for ‘Moonlight’ Barry Jenkins will visit Morelia for a retrospective of his work. At the same time, Amy Redfort, the daughter of Robert Redford, will present the film ‘Roost’. There is no news yet on the exact date of the screening of ‘Pinocchio’ at the festival or if there will be a visit from Guillermo del Toro.
