The Mexican film scene is preparing for the start of one of the most important film festivals in the country. Let’s talk about Morelia International Film Festivalwhich will celebrate its twentieth edition on 22 October 2022, and here we detail all the selection of films, as well as special guests who will be at the festival
This Monday, September 26, the FICM press conference was held, where the more details on the event programwhere we will have premieres such as the latest film by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, as well as a special screening of “Pinocchio” by Guillermo del Toro. Therefore, we invite you to start saving your tickets and dates on the calendar in order to be able to attend this great event that celebrates the best of world cinema.
What are the preview films and the guests of FICM 2022?
This season of festivals around the world has not disappointed and now it will be the turn of the Morelia International Film Festival, where in addition to the premieres of national films, we will have the screening of several international films, which although not in competition, are not. more within the selection.
It should be noted that to inaugurate the festival there will be an extensive menu, since ‘Bardo, false chronicle of few truths’ by Alejandro G. Inarritu will be in charge of opening the ceremony. In addition to this, in the international previews we will have famous films such as ‘Triangle of Sadness’, winner of the Palme d’Or at the last Cannes Film Festival.
For this edition, on the other hand, we will have special guests, leading figures on the cinema scene. To begin with, we will have the presence of Barry JenkinsOscar winner for “Moonlight”, which will present an entire retrospective of his work, which composes tapes such as “If Beale Street Could Talk” (2018), “The Underground Railroad” (2021) and “The Gaze” (2021) .
Added to that we will have the presence of Caire Denis, which will present a special cycle of his work. Producer and director Frank Marshal will be another of the stars who will present his documentary “Jazz Fest: A New Orleans Story”, as well as special screenings of his other works such as “The Other Side of the Wind” and “A Final Cut” . for Orson ‘.
On the other hand, the famous actress Maribel Verdu, will be present to present ‘Raymond and Ray’, a film by Rodrigo Varcía that features the interpretations of Ethan Hawke and Ewan McGregor. The actress will also open a cycle at the festival dedicated to her career, with films such as ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’, ‘Snow White’ and ‘Seven French Pool Tables’.
