Celebrate Spanish Heritage Month with these three comic book makers from Oni Press

It’s Spanish Heritage Month and we have some comic creators to share with you from Oni Press. These comics are each by Spanish creators and have a wide range of genres from supernatural to romance through to coming of age and are available now or will be out in the coming months. Personally I am very interested Season of the Bruja Vol. 1 when it comes out because I love a good magical story. Check out these titles and find out more about the creators behind them below.

The kiss of the chef (Available now) where things really heat up in the kitchen in this queer adult graphic novel from the creator Jarrett Melendez – a longtime fan of food and cooking, Jarrett spent a lot of his time in the kitchen, often as a paid professional! Jarrett regularly collaborates with Bon Appetit and Food52 and is the author of The Comic Kitchen, a fully illustrated comic book style cookbook. When he’s not cooking and writing about food, Jarrett usually writes comics and contributed to Ringo’s All We Ever Wanted, Full Bleed, and Murder Hobo: Chaotic Neutral.

Wild! Or so I was born to be, V1 (out November 22, 2022) is the creator’s adult roller derby debut Cristian Castelo. Cristian resides in Daly City, California with his dog, Chicken, and his uncle Jorge. He graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2017 with a BFA in engraving. When he’s not drawing comics, he’s likely to be heard screaming on TV while he plays video games or runs through the streets of San Francisco.

Season of the Bruja Vol. 1 (on sale December 6, 2022) follows a young woman as she steps into her magical abilities and faces re-emerging threats from the past. Bruja Season is from the Portland creator Aaron Duran who has written stories for Dark Horse Comics, Image Comics and Activision. The Bruja Season features a stunning cover by celebrated artist and three-time Eisner winner David Aja.
