Emmys hand out so many awards a year that the awards show has to be spread over multiple nights. Thus, the weekend before the grand gala which will take place on Monday 12 September and where the main prizes will be awarded, creative emmies are heldtwo evenings in which the Television Academy recognizes, among other things, the technical and artistic achievements and the guest performances of the last year on television.
In this first phase of the 74th Emmy Awards there are already several series that start with an advantage in the face of the final tally that this edition will leave. Leading with five awards each are ‘Stranger Things’, ‘Euphoria’ and ‘The White Lotus’, with the docuseries ‘The Beatles: Get Back’ and the special ‘Adele: One Night Only’ with the same number of statuettes. Following on from four awards are “The Squid Game” and “Arcane”.

In the Best Actor and Guest Actress categories, Nathan Lane finally won his first Emmy thanks to “Only Murders in the Building” and after being nominated seven times in the same category. Laurie Metcalf received her fourth Emmy for “Hacks”, while Lee Yoo-mi and Colman Domingo took home their firsts for “The Squid Game” and “Euphoria” respectively.
On the other hand, Peter Jackson added to his long history of awards two Emmys for Disney docuseries + “The Beatles: Get Back”, Chadwick Boseman won a posthumous Emmy for his vocal work in animation “What if … ? ” by Marvel and ‘Jíbaro’, the acclaimed short film of ‘Love, Death & Robots’ directed by the Spanish Alberto Mielgo won the award for the best animated short film (which adds to the Emmy special for best character design she already had). Finally, Disney + ‘s “Chip and Chop: The Rescue Guardians” emerged as the winner in the Best Movie for TV category.
