Carlo Uban he was really great in the role of Judge Dredd in the writer Alessio Ghirlanda and director Pietro TravisMovie of 2012 Dred. It baffles me that no one has decided to make a sequel to that film. It was Judge Dredd’s perfect film, gritty, violent and visually stunning. It’s one of the best comic book adaptations made, but we’ve never seen any other stories told with Urban’s version of the character.
Over the years, Urban has consistently stated that he would love to return and reprise his role. Unfortunately, the opportunity never presented itself. But that doesn’t mean he’s still not interested in playing Dredd, it’s a dream he obviously doesn’t give up on. He is still very excited to play the character.
In a recent interview with GQ, he expressed how big a Judge Dredd fan he is and that, even though he failed to play the character again, he still wants to see more Judge Dredd stories.
“I would certainly be interested in revisiting the character. There is such a great depth of material that has been created by John Wagner and various writers over the years, especially the stories revolving around Judge Death and a lot of fantastic stories. It doesn’t. I don’t mind if I get the chance to play Dredd again or if it’s someone else. I just want to see those stories. “
At the moment, I don’t know of any Judge Dredd projects in development. There was a series in development years ago that Urban hoped to be a part of, but nothing ever happened.
At this point, I don’t think we’ll ever see Urban in the role of Dredd again. I hope I’m wrong, though.
