Fortunately, there are many film projects currently coming to theaters, and practically every week, even every day, there is something new to see. But on the other hand, there are also films that looked promising but never came out and got canceled.
bad girl
The most recent example of it’s a last minute canceled movie ‘bad girl’, who was to play Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon. Warner’s reasons for canceling the HBO Max project were that the film did not reach the quality levels for a studio blockbuster, even though they had already invested $ 70 million.
It Might Interest You: Leslie Grace could be Batgirl in another DC project
Big insect man
Another project with Brendan Fraser (would be the villain of “Batigirl”), that never seen the light was ‘Big insect man’, an animated film where the “The Mummy” actor gave birth to the character of Howard Kind. The film was also attended by Marlon Brando, recognized for his role in “The Godfather” and which would be his last work before his death.
Don plum
Recently the story of this canceled film with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire has become popular, which in fact was the one that strengthened their friendship. “Don’s Plum” was so controversial because of its storyline, that the actors did everything possible to prevent it from being released in theaters because they believed it would tarnish the reputation of their promising careers. However, one of the major manufacturers shares it on their website with anyone who requests it.
Scooby! Obsession with the holidays
As we said before, ‘Batgirl’ isn’t the only film canceled by Warner Bros. Discovery recently, because it was’Scooby! Obsession with the holidays’, an animated film that had already been completed in July 2022and that it would serve as a sequel to “Scoob!”, but the company decided not to release it and save a few dollars.
dunes
The story of Frank Herbert’s novel is quite interesting, because for many years they wanted to adapt it to the big screen, with names like Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Ridley Scott as possible candidates. But it was Alejandro Jodorowsky who received the job of directing ‘Dune’, one of the most ambitious films in the history of cinema, which was canceled from his hand despite having amassed an incredible talent.
The man of sand
Although Neil Gaiman’s comic has now been brought to the small screen in series format by Netflix, efforts have been made for years to create a film “The Sandman”, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt being the one that went furthest. Finally, in 2006, after several months of planning, the actor who would bring Dream to life reported that the film had been canceled due to creative differences.
