A few days ago it was revealed that a new spin-off of the ‘Rocky’ franchise was in development, which in turn also comes from ‘Creed’, which would be centered around the character of Ivan Drago. The situation was not to Sylvester Stallone’s liking and, faced with criticism, Dolph Lundgren also replied.

The Wrap portal reported that it was already under development a spin-off of Ivan Drago with Dolph Lundgren, the actor who played the character in “Rocky 3” and who appeared again with his son in “Creed 2” with Michael B. Jordan. It seems the announcement has created confusion, even among Sylvester Stallone himself.

The announcement stated that the Ivan Drago spin-off already had a screenwriter, Robert Lawton, who wrote the biopic “Becoming Rocky”. However, Sylvester Stallone replied annoyed by the use of his charactersand shared a photo on his Instagram, where he criticized the producer.

I just found out … Once again, this pathetic 94-year-old producer and his useless and stupid vulture sons, Charles and David, are cleaning the bones of another wonderful character that I created without even telling me. I apologize to the fans, I never wanted the Rocky characters to be exploited by these parasites. “

In the publication, Sylvester Stallone states, “By the way, I have nothing but respect for Dolph, but I wish he’d told me what was going on behind my back … Keep your real friends close.” Lundgren was in talks with MGM to develop the spin-off.

Dolph Lundgren responds to criticism of Sylvester Stallone

Recently, Sylvester Stallone made it clear that he does not have the rights to “Rocky”, which is why he has no control over what is done with the character in theaters. In the face of controversy, Dolph Lundgren, the actor of Ivan Drago, shared a publication in their networks where it clarifies the situation.

“Just to set the record straight about a possible Drago spin-off. There is no approved script, no deal in place, no director and I personally got the impression that my friend Sly Stallone was involved as a producer or even as an actor. There was a leak last week that was unfortunate. I’m in contact with Mr. Balboa, just so all the fans can relax… There he is, ”Lundgren said.

With that, it’s clear Dolph isn’t sure about the new “Creed” spin-off, and although he claims he doesn’t know Sylvester Stallone wasn’t forced to be part of the project, which makes it clear it’s in development, but now it is uncertain whether Stallone will want to be involved.
