Halftone amber protagonists of the new Predator film, Prey, and plays a Comanche warrior named Naru. He finds himself facing the alien hunter and, as you can imagine, things get terribly intense! Midthunder was great in the movie! He gave a great performance and I loved the character he played. What a beautiful casting!
She recently spoke to Bloody-Disgusting about her involvement in the film and one of the things she shares is that she didn’t even know she was auditioning for a Predator movie when she came to read for the role. She said:
“When this project first came to my world, I had no idea it was a Predator movie. I read with Dan [ Trachtenberg] for the first time in February 2020. So, well over two years have passed. I just knew it was a movie about a young Comanche woman who wanted to be a slayer and that Dan was directing it. This is all I knew. Then, he disappeared because COVID happened and then he came back. And even again, when he came back, I had no idea. So no, it was just the character and the elements of the story and of course Dan was involved. “
There is a lot of very physical performance in this movie, and there was a lot of preparation in this one. They had to be in good physical shape to face the alien hunter nightmare! Midthunder explained:
“We had a four-week training camp that we all went through, me in Dakota [Beavers] and all the other guys. We made weapons and worked with the stunt team, a personal trainer and all kinds of things. But there are also so many parts of this movie that you can’t train for. You know?”
He went on to talk about one of those challenges and it involved very unpleasant experiences with stinking mud. She shared the following experience:
“Good. Something I just found out Dan said was that he didn’t smell like that until he touched human flesh. Those are his words. Which, first of all, is such a disgusting way to put it. Second place, that’s such a gross idea. I didn’t know. I didn’t go into it until we started shooting, which other people had been to test. I’d heard, ‘Oh, that’s not a big deal. It’s just water with the leaves on it. ”I think they probably added more and made it worse or something.
“Then, when I got out there, it smelled like fertilizer. But then it was thick and sticky, and there were only twigs they were cutting. To be clean, I would leave and go to a dark tent with a horse trough. I was there, and four women watered me. They were so sweet and lovely. They gave me hot water as it was also cold. It was a wild experience when I think of the details. “
The film follows a young woman named Naru, “a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She grew up in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her encampment, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she pursues, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a ferocious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
Also includes the cast of the film Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (Sooyii), Michelle Tordo (The journey home), And Julian Black Antelope (tribal).
Prey it will be released exclusively on Hulu on August 5, 2022. This is a fantastic movie and I think fans will be really happy about it.
