The time has come to celebrate the best of the year on television and streaming with the 74th Emmy Awards, whose ceremony will take place on September 12 in Los Angeles. And the countdown officially begins with the reading of the candidatesstarring this year by actors JB Smoove (“Larry David”) and Melissa Fumero (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”).
The reading of the nominations will be virtual as usual, however the ceremony will be in person, like every year before the pandemic. Also in 2021 the gala was held with a live audience after a previous hybrid edition with an event without an audience, presenters in person and a lot of Zoom. For the 2022 edition, and if nothing changes, an attempt will be made to completely return to normal after two years marked by Covid-19.
And for this reason, this year the Television Academy also takes up a tradition that it had had to cancel in previous editions due to the health emergency: The governor’s ballsto celebrate after both the Creative Emmy and Prime Time Emmy ceremonies.
The competition is strong this year, with big favorites to monopolize nominations like ‘Ted Lasso’, ‘Hacks’ or ‘Barry’ in the comedy, ‘Succession’, ‘Ozark’ and ‘Better Call Saul’ in the drama pools, and the new arrived who have all the votes to prevail, such as “Only murders in the building”, “The game of the squid” or “Abbot’s school”. Not forgetting the acclaimed ‘The White Lotus’ or ‘Dopesick: Story of an addiction’ in the miniseries categories.
It’s time to find out if the predictions have been met with this year’s nominees. The awards will be presented on Monday, September 12, in a ceremony that will be broadcast live on the US network NBC. These are the 2022 Emmy nominations:
