DC’s scripted podcast series Batman unburied have been renewed for a second season on Spotify. The news comes as no surprise as the first season was a huge success for Spotify as it launched to the top of the charts. I’ve just started listening to it, and so far it’s really good!
The series comes from the writer David Goyerand stars Winston Duke like Bruce Wayne / Batman, Hasan Minhaj like The Riddler, Gina Rodriguez like Barbara Gordon, Sam Wiwer like The Reaper, and Emmy Raver-Lampman like Poison Ivy.
The ten-episode first season is a psychological thriller and this is the synopsis: “A serial killer known as The Harvester terrorizes Gotham City, but Batman doesn’t come to the rescue. In fact, Bruce Wayne doesn’t remember being the Caped Crusader at all. Instead, Bruce is a forensic pathologist, who performs an autopsy on the latest victim when he is attacked by the killer himself. As Bruce’s obsession with the Reaper consumes him, Dr. Thomas Wayne, head of Gotham City Hospital, orders his son to take medical leave and seek treatment from an unusual psychologist, Dr. Hunter. With Batman missing in action, Detective Barbara Gordon has no choice but to seek help from Gotham’s second smartest detective: The Riddler.
The news of the second season was announced at Spotify’s “Dive Into The Batman Audio Universe” panel and Duke spoke about the series, saying, “It was always joked that Bruce Wayne’s superpower was a white privilege and I have I had to go through this period to really imagine and set myself free to find a way in – this man who distrusts the judicial system so much that he decides to take it in hand – is much more than the diasporic experience of blacks I knew. “
We don’t know when Batman unburied Season 2 will be released. All they said is that it will come soon.
