The black phone it’s not only a great horror movie, but it’s also one of my favorite movies of the year. It’s super dark, but it’s so good! It definitely takes the audience on an extremely intense wild ride that will have the audience in suspense.
The film tells the story of Finney Shaw (Thames bricklayer), a shy but intelligent 13-year-old boy who “is kidnapped by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When an unplugged phone on the wall starts ringing, Finney finds she can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are determined to make sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney. “The film also stars Madeleine McGraw as Gwen, Finney’s younger sister who has psychic dreams.
Well, it turns out that Stephen King he is also a huge fan of the film. During an interview with / Film, director Scott Derrickson was asked what common ground does the film share with adult films. This is where Derrickson revealed that Stephen King, the father of Joe Hillwho wrote The black phone story, I really enjoyed the movie. He described it as “Stand by Me to hell, ”which is a perfect description.
“I know that [author Joe Hill] showed it to his father ,. And Stephen King’s comment … he saw it and apparently loved it. And his comment to Joe was “Stand By Me” in Hell “, which I thought was great.”
Derrickson goes on to say that King’s quote should be on the film’s poster, and continues to credit the realistic portrayal of trauma in the story as part of what makes the film sound like a story across genres:
“I think it depends on the veracity of those little kids. I felt that the heart, soul and emotion of the film would be based on how well I could establish, not just their individual characters, but the bond between the two of them, and to get the audience to really cheer on his connection, and that would support the emotion of the film. “
This maturity horror film is based on “childhood trauma and child resilience”. Go see this movie when it comes out on June 24, 2022.
