Netflix has released a new trailer for Dream traina sweeping drama that initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews.
Adapted from Denis Johnson’s acclaimed novella, the story follows Robert Grainier, a lumberjack and railroad worker navigating a rapidly changing America in the early 20th century.
The film is the protagonist Joel Edgerton like Robert next door Felicity Jones, Nathaniel Arcand, Clifton Collins Jr., Kerry CondonAND William H. Macywith narration by Will Patton and a score of Bryce Dessner.
The teaser sets the tone beautifully, offering glimpses of what critics are calling a visual masterpiece. The film isn’t just a historical drama, it’s a human story about resilience, isolation and the relentless march of progress.
As I said in my review: “Watching it was like listening to the kinds of stories my grandfather used to tell me about what it was like to work in America in this same era, stories of resilience, of ordinary people witnessing extraordinary change.”
I also said, “It’s an American story through and through, rich with the texture of a bygone era. The film conveys the same kind of warmth and nostalgia I feel when I watch Cookie OR October sky. It’s a comforting film that gets into your soul.”
This connection with the past makes Dream train it seems like a living memory, a film that transports you to another time.
The film was directed by Clint Bentleythe director behind Jockey and co-author of Sing Sing. Dream train will be released in select theaters on November 7th and will be available for streaming on Netflix starting November 21st.
