Long Walk’s screenwriter was terrified Stephen King would not have liked the adaptation of the film

The long walk It is easily one of the best Stephen King Adaptations that have been made. It is an expert movie that it is a must watch.

Directed by Francis Lawrence (Constantine, The Hunger Games series) and written by JT Mollner (Strange treasure), this sad dystopian thriller promises to remain faithful to King’s ruthless and obsessed original vision.

Before the release of the film, Mollner revealed that the adaptation of this classic novel came with a huge unnerving challenge … The fear that Stephen King himself would not have approved.

Speaking at the Comic-Con of San Diego in Comicbook, Mollner shared how much discouraging he was bringing King’s work to the screen, above all because he is himself such a huge fan:

“It’s exciting. It’s also frightening, especially when you love the writer so much. But when Roy made me Francis, Francis told me what kind of movie he wanted to do, and that was the movie I wanted to write, you know?

“I am so familiar with Stephen King, and I was so enthusiastic about the vision that Francis had for this film that I was very confident that I would have fun writing it and I knew how I wanted to write it.

“I was just terrified by the fact that Stephen King wouldn’t like it. So when we found out he liked, it was really an important moment.”

Fortunately for Mollner, the legendary horror author gave adaptation his approval seal. This made the difference for Mollner, who feels a deep personal connection with the style and tone of King’s narrative:

“I love writing and telling original stories. But if there is a book that exists, a story that exists, to which I feel connected, that I feel like if I could have written or that I could have found myself that I feel like if it were [or] He shares the artistic DNA with the heart, so it would be right. This seemed right.

“I will say about Francis that, even if there are some obvious narrative parallels between this and some other films he has directed, I think this is a departure for him.

“I think it’s a different type of film … his approach to this was so unique, and it was so true for King’s DNA that he immediately told me that he wanted to go all the way, you know?”

Originally published in 1979 under the pseudonym of King, Richard Bachman, The long walk It was actually the first novel King completed when he was only 19 years old. Despite several attempts over the years from filmmakers such as George A. Romero, Frank DarabontAND André ØvredalThis chilling story proved difficult to adapt because of what King described in Vanity Fair at the beginning of this year as “ruthless quality”.
