Prepare to go down again in madness. Studiocanal has just dropped a new compelling trailer for the imminent 4K restoration of The scale of Jacob, The 1990 obsessive psychological thriller that still makes the public cool down later.
This version just remastered will arrive this October as a collectible steel exit, giving long fans the opportunity to revisit this cult classic in extraordinary high definition.
Directed by Adrian Lyne (Fatal attraction, indecent proposal) and written by Bruce Joel Rubin, The scale of Jacob stars Tim Robbins in one of his most unforgettable roles. He plays Jacob Singer, a veteran of the Vietnam War that is tormented by pain, trauma and the barrage of disturbing hallucinations.
Set in a gritty New York City of the 90s, the film follows Jacob as he tries to destroy the truth from his nightmares, his memories and his perception as far as reality wanders.
“In the past four years Jacob Singer has been persecuted by the painful memory of his time spent in Vietnam. He is afflicted by hallucinations. When his former psychoanalyst is killed by a Jacob carrier, he thinks he will lose his head.
“His friend Jezzi also tries to comfort him in vain; only his therapist can calm him down. An afternoon Jacob comes across his battalion.
The trailer highlights the disturbing graphics, surreal assembly and the pounding score of Maurice JarreEverything that this film made such a crazy film. With themes that explore pain, the PTSD and the fragile line between life and death, The scale of Jacob has long been considered a mixture that defines the kind of Taxi driver AND The Twilight area.
Robbins offers incredible performance, supported by a strong cast that includes Danny Aiello, Ving rhames, Matt CravenAND Elizabeth Peña. It is a compelling and emotionally rough study of characters wrapped in a dark and mysterious horror package.
Originally published in 1990, The scale of Jacob Bring just under $ 25 million to the box office, but quickly found its audience over time. Now, 35 years later, the film is receiving the right high definition treatment it deserves.
The 4K version will be available this autumn and fans can get their hands on the Steelbook edition full of new works of art and bonus functionality.
If you have never experienced the scale of Jacob, or if you are ready to immerse yourself in its nightmare view with a crystalline update, this version is not to be missed.
