A brutal new red band clip from The long walk I just let it fall, and it is a clear sign that this film does not hold anything. Adapted by the 1979 novel by Stephen KingThis intense dystopian thriller seems to earn every inch of its Rating R, and then some.
The clip opens on what looks like a casual scene. A group of young people is seen walking in the punitive sun, chatting together as they go forward. But the atmosphere turns quickly. In this version of an alternative America, the stakes are fatal.
The rules are simple: each competitor must continue to walk at a minimum pace of four miles per hour. If they slow down for more than 30 seconds, they receive a warning. Three warnings and are shot, no exceptions. The prize? The last man standing wins everything they want for the rest of their life.
In this specific clip, one of the walkers, the number seven, begins to stay behind. “Charley Horse”, moan, clearly in pain as he loses the rhythm. His walking companions urge him, trying to make him go on, but it is useless. It’s too far. The tension is heartbreaking and the clip does not avoid showing the brutal consequence.
Director Francis Lawrence He clarified that he would not have to water this adaptation. “I knew we were doing a difficult one. It doesn’t deserve to be PG-13; it deserves to be R.”
The film is the protagonist Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson (Alien: Romulus) ,, Roman Griffin Davis (Jojo rabbit), AND Ben Wang (The karate child) like primary walkers. Added to the intensity of the film is Mark HamilL, who interprets the major, a left figure who supervises the entire ordeal.
First reactions a The long walk They were extraordinarily positive. The long walk It is preparing to be one of Stephen King’s most hardcore adaptations, offering not only shocking violence but also emotional depths and unforgettable performances.
It affects cinemas on September 12 and if this first clip is indicative, the public is better to be prepared for a wild lap.
