Marvel fans are taking a look at what could have been for one of the most powerful and most powerful characters in the MCU. Concept artist John Staub has shared an alternative design lot for Thunderbolts* This takes a look at the first explorations of the void, alter ego chaotic and unstable of Sentry, and it is clear that Marvel was seriously evaluating several directions for the appearance of the character.
While the final film gave us a black shadow with bright eyes, some of these concepts want to intertwine oscillations.
“Some void explorations for the film Thunderbolts aka New Avengers,” said Staub in a social media post. “We have explored several possibilities that gave c not to comic and tried to find the right aspect that was in line with the story that was told.”
Although fans would have loved to see a complete monstrous version of the void, something closer to the demonic mass seen in the comics, it seems that Marvel wanted a more detained and symbolic interpretation for this version of the character.
However, Staub’s unused art works show to what extent they took into consideration the idea of taking it, with different designs that feel wilder and more visually intense than what ended up on the screen.
This type of look behind the scenes is always fascinating, especially when it shows Marvel actively playing with what to rely on the strange, cosmic and psychological horror aspects of their characters.
Void is one of the darkest forces of the Marvel universe and it seems that the visual development team has given that legacy some thought before landing on a final direction.
