James Gunn didn’t want Thor in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – “I don’t understand how to write that character”

Marvel fans are used to seeing the crossover characters with other movies in the MCU, then when Avengers: endgame Finished with Thor who made a tour of Benatar, many assumed that the god of thunder would remain around Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. But, James Gunn They had other plans, those who did not involve Thor at all.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn revealed that Flat-Out told Marvel that he did not want to include Thor in the final chapter of the Guardians. Gunn said:

“I said in the notes of the script: ‘I won’t put it in. I don’t want to have Thor in the guardians. I don’t want to make a movie with Thor.

“I don’t understand the character so much. I love watching his films and I love Chris Hemsworth as a boy. I don’t understand how to write that character.”

Gunn decided to remain faithful to the tone and the dynamics that had already spent two films to create. His guardians were not one background for another Thor adventure; They had their story to end.

In the end, Marvel used Thor: love and thunder to quickly conclude that unexpected combination. The Guardians appear briefly at the beginning of that film before separating from Thor after a rescue call from Lady Sif, effectively pressing the restoration button on the alignment of the Guardians before vol. 3 dropped in 2023.

And while Gunn has officially closed the chapter on the guardian saga, he is now shooting the page in style with SupermanThe first film in his new universe DC.

The film is the protagonist David Corenswet Like Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan like Lois Lane, e Nicholas Hault Like Lex Lothor just shaved. The film also reads Isabela Merced, Nathan FillionAND Anthony Carrigan.

Superman Fly in the cinemas 11 July.
