Toys ‘r’ US Live-action Movie in the Works with Story Kitchen Productions

Story Kitchen and Toys’r’us Studios, the production arm of entertainment of the global toy brand, collaborated to develop a live action film based on the popular childhood shop.

The co-founders of Story Kitchen Dmitri M. Johnson and Mike Goldberg, who announce the project, saying:

“Toys’r’us is a cultural comparison stone that continues to influence the child in all of us today. Like the children of the 80s who considered Toys’r’r’r’r’er, one of the most magical places on the earth, we are honored to collaborate to create a film that captures the spirit of adventure, creativity and nostalgia that Toys represent”.

The film, which is in the initial development phase, aims to capture that childish wonder in a modern and frenetic adventure that draws on the relevance of the Toys’r’r’er brand in its over 70 years in the toy sector.

“Like the first Toys’r’r’r’er film, this project is an exciting opportunity to bring the magic of our brand to the big screen,” said Kim Miller Olko, president of the Toys’r’r’er studios. “It will be a boundless journey like the game itself, evoking the electrical sense of wonder that is the essence of Toys’r’r’er. This story will capture the imagination, adventure and joy that has made Toys’r’r’r’r’r’er a destination for children of all ages.”

The project was described as in the vein of Night at the museum, Back to the future OR Largeplus other narratives inspired by successful toys such as Jumanji AND Barbie. The producers are working in preliminary conversations with filmmakers, with casting and additional details to be announced in the coming months.

I hope this film is as fun as it seems, and brings more toys “res shops. I loved the wonder of that place as a child, and I really had fun bringing my children there just before they closed. It was exciting to take a birthday race there, and not only to order by Amazon, but choose a Lego set or a bicycle or something in person.
