Create custom dice for your game table with the latest Hero Forge Kickstarter

A statuette, personalized XL D20 and standard miniature of the same figure as Hero Forge.

Hero Forge has launched a new kickstarter that practically any player who uses dice can get excited: personalized dice. Hero Forge is already one of the leaders in making personalized miniatures and now with the possibility of making personalized dice, your game sessions will reach a new level.

The real rapid Grytty is that the Kickstarter campaign for personalized dice ends on April 5 and the lowest reward level is $ 39 (shipping not included) for a single personalized nut, early access to the dice manufacturer and 1 month of Hero Forge Pro. Tari of higher reward include additional dice, miniatures and more.

Time for a little transparency. Hero Forge reached the kickstarter coverage and sent me a statuette and XL D20 to combine it (of their choice, not one that I was able to customize).

You can see the photos below, but these articles have helped me to get some hands with what to wait for me from the final products and I will sprinkle my subjective thoughts throughout the post with all the details.

What are personalized nuts? They are dice that you can design using Hero Forge’s tools. This means that you can design something on Hero Forge and then put it (or part of it) in a dice (or dice) of your choice. So, you can customize the characters to make your own really.

The available nuts include the standard array of (slightly larger than my chessex sets) by multifaceted nuts such as D4, D6, D8, D10/%, D12 and D20. There is also the XL D20 which is 38 mm instead of 25 mm (my standard D20 measures about 20 mm for reference).

This is what has been sent to me and is enormous. In fact, the XL D20 is quite large where you could potentially adapt to the miniature of all your character inside. Another advantage is that you can have the D20 set on a lifestyle to make it easier to keep track of things in all games such as tokens or life Magic: The Gathering.

I like this idea. Initially, I thought it was limited to miniature busts because that’s what I received, but I was raised when I learned that there are so many other possible options. You can do things like putting your character weapons or family members or animal companions in different dice to really bring their glow to your table. Do you always use a long sword to fight? Throw one in a D8! You can also Kitbash to create a personalized object and throw it in one of the dice. It is really a nice idea with almost unlimited possibilities.

In terms of quality, what I was sent is an example of good quality. The edges and corners are rounded that may not please some people, but it is standard and well done. The quality and details of the bust inside are high and correspond to that of the statuettes. The resin used by Hero Forge is beautiful and clear so that those details are not blurred or obscured.

Here are some of my final thoughts based on the XL D20 that I was sent. The biggest thing I can say is to pay attention to the text and in case of doubt, make it bigger and/or increase the contrast. On the nut I was sent, the text is really small (it probably helps to highlight the quality of the mini bust inside) and is white on a clear resin with most of the colors of the lighter torso. This means that it is difficult to read when it is rolled. Another advice (once again, this is personal taste) is that if you make a bust, try to make the color of filling on cutters combines the color of the pieces that are cut. For mine, the filling is a nice blue, but since the figure does not use the same blue everywhere near the cuts, it seems a little cheaper and much more distracted for me. I also think it would be fresher if the face of the bust was in line with 20 (from what I can say it should be feasible in the publisher).

Is it critically necessary for you to go out and get a complete set of personalized dice from Hero Forge? No. Is it important to get at least one D20? No. Is it a funny news that I would recommend if you have the budget as you are looking for something fun for your game hobby? Heck in yes. Heck, in a pinch I don’t see why you can’t use the nut as mini for things like when you use duplicity.

The Hero Forge: Custom says Kickstarter is now live and has more than doubled his goal, which means that you don’t have to worry about this. Once again, the campaign ends on April 5 and the prizes should be delivered around August 2025. What are your plans for your personalized dice?
