After Disney acquired Marvel in 2009, I thought we would see more animated Marvel films made. Even though there have been animated shows, I was hoping we would see more animated stories told on the big screen, but the only one we got was Big Hero 6, which was amazing!
Now, thanks to scooper Daniel Richtman, we’ve learned what Kevin Feige and the team could prepare in terms of animated films. Marvel Studios is reportedly considering an animated film project Power package AND The Kaiju Boy.
Power package is a team of four young siblings – Alex, Julie, Jack and Katie Power – who gain superpowers after meeting an alien scientist named Whitey. This Kymellian passes his powers on to the kids to help them protect their planet from an alien race called the Zn’rx.
With regard to The Kaiju Boyaka Kei Kawade, Kei is a young artist living in Atlanta whose latent Inhuman genes are activated by the Terrigen Cloud, giving him the incredible ability to summon the monsters he draws. Kei’s adventures typically feature him alongside enormous creatures such as Fin Fang Foom, Gorgilla, and Zzutak.
This is a really fun character and his story would work perfectly for an animated film! It could be a wild and chaotic adventure film!
This move into animated films seems like a natural direction for Marvel Studios, and I’m surprised they haven’t always made animated films. There’s an opportunity here to tell stories that don’t need to fit into the live-action MCU and that could thrive in animation.
Marvel Studios’ entry into animated films would open up even more creative possibilities for them, especially with characters like Power Pack and Kid Kaiju.
Would you like to see Marvel Studios finally start developing animated films a la Disney? What other character do you think would work?
