First reactions to Stephen King’s film THE MONKEY, calling it “extravagantly demented” and “cartoonically bloody”

There’s something new Stephen King upcoming film titled soon The Monkeywhich comes from the director Osgood Perkins (Long legs) and the first reactions for the film emerged.

The film promises to be “outrageously gory” and “completely gratuitous”, some of the reactions say it is “extraordinarily demented” and “cartoonishly bloody”. It looks like the movie is going to be a wild and fun horror movie, and the reactions that have come down make it seem like we’re having a great time!

In The Monkey“When twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old toy monkey in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths begins to occur around them. The brothers decide to throw the monkey away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years.

“But when the mysterious deaths begin again, the brothers must band together to find a way to destroy the ape once and for all before it takes the lives of everyone close to them.”

Speaking previously about the film, Perkins said: “It’s going to be more like Misery OR Creepshow OR Gremlins OR American werewolf. It couldn’t be LESS than this Long legs.

He continued, “To me, if you’re going to make a movie about a toy monkey, you can take it seriously. But so much of King is fun and nostalgic.

“So we tried to make a movie that felt a little more like something from the late ’80s to ’90s.” For me, ideally, it’s the film that children and their parents want to go and see together.”

Here are some of the reactions that emerged:

Eric Davis said: “2025 is all about off-the-wall horror, and Oz Perkins’ #TheMonkey is a very good time: incredibly funny to the point where people were giggling in my theater, but also dark, gory and brutal with some incredible killings.” .

“Very different from LONGLEGS – Perkins broadens his tonal range, making a film that really likes to joke around. You will jump, scream and cover your eyes, but you will definitely come out smiling. You should definitely watch it with a crowd.

Jake Hamilton said: “THE MONKEY will be one of those horror movies that I will watch over and over again for the rest of my life. Dark and brutal enough that it seems wrong to call it a “horror comedy,” but it’s also the hardest thing I’ve laughed at in a movie theater in years. A new classic King adaptation is born.

Drew Taylor said: “I love #TheMonkey. Oz Perkins has been one of the most exciting genre directors since his debut, and his latest film represents the best there is in cinema: funny, scary, touching and just so much fun. A rare film that can be compared to Gremlins in terms of dizzying chaos.”

Issaac Feldberg said: “THE MONKEY: the design of death as a cosmic joke, a killing machine that unleashes splatstick carnage and traumatizes everyone; bloody as a cartoon but sincere about the inevitability of death and the absurdity of processing chaos. THE FINAL DESTINATION by Oz Perkins, in a sadly funny way.

Courtney Howard said: “#TheMonkey by Osgood Perkins cooks like hell. They’re BANANAS! An extravagantly demented and drugged ride. Slick, stylized and sadistic. Gnarly, cheerfully fresh kills and thrills: Rube Goldberg machines / Final Destination inspired deaths. Theo James’ deadpan delivery impresses.

Sign me up! I can’t wait to see it in person!

Movie stars Teo Giacomo (The White Lotus) alongside Tatiana Maslany (SheHulk: Lawyer), Elijah Wood (Maniac), Christian Convery (Sweetness), Colin O’Brien (Wonka), Rohan Campbell (Halloween ends) AND Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek).
