Netflix has released a fantastic new trailer for Joe AND Antonio Russothe next sci-fi adventure film The Electric State. This trailer seems to lean into the emotion of the story of a young girl who bonds with a robot while searching for her brother.
I’m excited about this movie! I love the images I see from it and it looks like it will take audiences on an epic journey. It’s a shame we won’t be able to enjoy it on the big screen.
The film comes with a stacked cast of actors leading it Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger things), Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy), AND Ke Huy Quan (Everything everywhere and everything at once).
The film is based on an adaptation of the illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag and is set in an alternate retro-futuristic version of 1997.
With humans isolated in their VR helmets and an ongoing battle against a strange race of monstrous drones following a technological meltdown, an orphaned teenager named Michelle (Brown) travels across the American West with a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric wanderer looking for his younger brother.
Quan plays Dr. Amherst, a key figure in helping Michelle locate her brother, while Pratt plays Keats, a war veteran turned long-haul truck driver.
The Russos returned to collaborating with writers Christopher Markus AND Stephen McFeely on the project, which he also worked on Avengers: Infinity War AND End of games.
It’s also in the cast Stanley Tucci as tech guru Ethan Skate; Woody Normanno as Michelle’s brother, Martin Klebba; AND Giancarlo Esposito as robot bounty hunter Colonel Bradbury; with Jason Alexander, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Anthony Mackie, Billy Bob Thornton, Alan TudykAND Woody Harrelson lending his voice to various robots. Harrelson provides the voice of a giant robotic version of the beloved American mascot Mr. Peanut.
The Electric State will arrive on Netflix in March 2025.
