Jon Favreau is bringing the actor Jonny Coyne I return to playing the Imperial Warlord The Mandalorian and Grogu. The character previously appeared in episode 7 of season 3 of The Mandalorian and was part of the hologram Shadow Council.
He and the other imperial-ranking officials meet By Giancarlo Esposito the villain Moff Gideon and informs them of the Mandalorians’ plans to take back their homeworld Mandalore, also asking about the whereabouts of Admiral Thrawn.
The Shadow Council secretly works against the New Republic. In that episode, the Imperial Warlord tells the group about opportunities to “plunder the hyperspace lanes”. He was also accused by Captain Gilad Pellaeon that his “hit-and-run operations are gaining too much attention”.
Coyne joins a growing cast that includes Pedro Pascal, Sigourney WeaverAND Jeremy Allen White as Jabba The Hutt’s son.
Favreau previously shared a statement with the film’s announcement, saying, “I’ve loved telling stories set in the rich world George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
Favreau co-wrote the screenplay with creative director Dave Filoni and the president of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy will produce The Mandalorian and Grogu.
This will be the first Star Wars film to begin production and be released since then Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.
The Mandalorian and Grogu will be released on May 22, 2026.
